PR Confirmation Portal Photo Issues

PR Confirmation Portal Photo Issues

PR confirmation portal allows candidates inside Canada to confirm their PR status online without the need of  going to the border. As a part of the confirmation process, applicants need to upload a picture that is used for their PR card.

Recently IRCC has introduced some image verification at the backend that checks for image size and brightness.

As a result, a lot of applicants have been having issues with their pictures not being accepted. Mostly it is due to the size. The error message would look like:

"Warning: Your photo does not meet the following requirements:

  • Brightness: Your Photo may be too bright or too dark

  • Pixel Range Requirements: Your photo does not have a  pixel range between 1680 x 1200 and 4200 x 3000"

Error message seen when trying to upload a photo in the PR confirmation portal

Common Cause of this Error

The most common cause of this error is that the picture you are trying to upload is not in the correct size range i.e. 1680 x 1200 and 4200 x 3000.

Check the pixel size of the image and find out if this is the problem.

How to Fix Size Issue

  1. Change the dimension of the picture using a photo editor to be within 1680 x 1200 and 4200 x 3000.
  2. Make sure to keep the aspect ratio same for the image while modifying the dimensions.
  3. An online editor such as https://promo.com/tools/image-resizer/ can be used

Follow this example.

  • The original image is 1667 x 1250 which is outside the acceptable range.
Original Image of size 1667 x 1250

  • Resize the image to be within the required range as shown below: 1733 x 1300 (which is in the range).  Keep the aspect ratio same

Download the picture and bingo, this should work in the portal and hopefully you have your COPR and PR card in no time :)

Good Luck!

  2. For brightness issues, try to adjust the brightness in a photo editor. Or you can contact us and we can try custom brightness values to find one that works.

  5. I had the same problem, found in one of the discussions that it maybe due to clothes being too bright or too dark, I was wearing black shirt. Got it to work by centering the circles and reducing circle size so that just the face is visible, also may need a little brightness adjustment so that it looks a little bit too bright but not loosing contrast

  6. I used https://pinetools.com/change-image-brightness for photo brightness change and worked fine. You might require to make multiple attempts as we don't know the exact brightness that PR confirmation portal requires.

I am able to adjust brightness for photos of all my family and successfully uploaded without any error message by PR confirmation portal.
