PR Confirmation Portal Email and Process

Once your PR application is approved, you will receive an email with regards to IRCC Permanent Residence Confirmation Portal.

It might contain a doc that looks something like this:

At this point, first take a deep breath and happily scream at the top of your voice. A little bit of dancing is recommended. Congratulations you are just one step away from getting your Confirmation of Permanent Residence.

The PR Confirmation Portal is used by IRCC for the following:
  • Confirm that you are inside Canada
  • Confirm your current address
  • Get your picture for your PR card

Upon receiving your confirmation portal email, follow the instructions in the email regarding the information to be sent to IRCC. You need to respond to that email with the following:
  • Email address you want to use for the confirmation process
  • If you have spouse/dependents, will you be acting on their behalf or not.
  • Your personal details (Name, UCI, Email, Original Entry Date, Date of last entry, location of last entry)

Here is a sample response to this email for a single applicant.

Hi Virtual Landing Unit,
Thanks for your email. Here is the requested information for the PR confirmation portal process.
  • Email Address I want to use: consult@effizient.ca
  • I don't have any spouse/partner or dependent children
  • Here is my information:
            - Name : Dhruv Sharma
            - UCI : 12345678
            - Email (as set out in this message): consult@effizient.ca
            - Original Entry Date: 15 August 1947
            - Date of last time you entered Canada: 26 January 1950
            - Location where you last entered : Toronto Pearson
Regards,
Dhruv Sharma

Upon sending this email, wait until you receive login ID and password for the PR confirmation portal. Sign in to this portal using your login ID and password : https://prson-srpel.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/login

Now you can confirm your presence in Canada, confirm your address, and upload the photo. Once done, wait until you receive your Electronic Confirmation of Permanent Residence (e-COPR). At this point, you are done and are a Permanent Resident of Canada (YAY!!).

You should receive your PR card in mail within a few weeks!

  1. Hi there!
I was just wondering how long will IRCC take to reply to the email I sent them regarding this information? I also did not specify that I don't have any spouse/partner or dependent children. Will that delay in the IRCC' response?

  11. So, is this really it? It's APPROVED? Once you get an invitation, you're considered PR? I got the invitation but I can't process it in my mind. Maybe because I've waited too long?

  15. One parent has landed in Canada via the airport with the traditional landing paper. However, the other parent's been in Canada for a couple of years, she is the dependent of the application, but we don't know how to inform CIC to send us the invite for portal access. What should we do to get that invite email?
