French Draw Plummets CRS to Lowest Since March

The French-language proficiency category delivered another massive wave of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) this week, driving the CRS score to one of its lowest points of the year.

On October 29, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 6,000 ITAs to candidates with strong French language skills. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for this draw was a highly accessible 416.

This score is 16 points lower than the previous French draw and shows a clear, consistent priority for Francophone candidates in 2025. With 36,000 invitations issued in this category so far this year—far exceeding any other stream—French proficiency remains the single most advantageous factor for securing permanent residency through Express Entry.

CEC Draw Remains Highly Competitive

The latest Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw reinforces Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) strategy of stable but high-threshold selection for in-Canada applicants.

Held on October 28, 2025, the draw issued 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to CEC candidates. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required was 533. This score is a minimal one-point drop from the previous CEC draw, demonstrating that the pool of highly qualified, in-Canada workers remains competitive.

This draw marks the fourth consecutive CEC draw to invite exactly 1,000 candidates, highlighting a predictable but tightly controlled intake for those with Canadian work experience. For candidates with scores in the low 500s, this stability underscores the continued need to maximize language scores or explore provincial nomination to gain a decisive advantage.

PNP Draw Drops CRS Score

The latest Express Entry draw focused exclusively on the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), offering another round of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to provincially endorsed candidates.

Held on October 27, 2025, this draw issued 302 ITAs with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 761. Significantly, this score marks a 17-point drop from the previous PNP draw.

This lower CRS cut-off provides new hope for candidates awaiting an ITA, though the score remains high due to the automatic 600-point boost a provincial nomination provides. The draw size reflects IRCC's continued strategy of prioritizing regional economic needs while carefully managing the intake volumes across the Express Entry system. Securing a provincial nomination remains the most reliable strategy for fast-tracking permanent residence in Canada
