Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program: What to Expect Ahead?

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) general draws date is still uncertain. This is primarily due to a significant 50% reduction in allocations by the federal government, coupled with ongoing provincial and federal elections that have further delayed operations.

As per our predictions, Ontario is expected to continue prioritizing skilled trades and healthcare occupations in the near future—two sectors in urgent need of talent. Processing times may also be longer than usual, as OINP is working within strict quota limits and needs to carefully manage the volume of applications already in the pipeline.

We may see general OINP draws in the coming weeks or months once the situation stabilizes. Applicants are encouraged to stay prepared with up-to-date profiles and supporting documents.

Changes to British Columbia's PNP You Should Know About

British Columbia has announced significant changes to its Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). Several BC PNP streams have been closed, and draws are paused for some categories.

The province will limit new applications to 1,100 in 2025, prioritizing front-line healthcare workers and entrepreneurs/skilled workers demonstrating high economic impact.

International Post-Graduate (IPG) applications received between September 1, 2024, and January 7, 2025, will not be processed, and the launch of three new student streams is postponed until allocation levels are restored.

The Health Authority stream is now exclusively for front-line healthcare workers, and targeted education draws will focus solely on Early Childhood Educators. These changes represent a major shift in BC's immigration strategy.
