All you need to know about PNP Draws- 17 February, 2025
On 17th February, 2025 there was a round of invitations through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), a total of 646 invitations were issued. The CRS score of the lowest-ranked candidate invited was 750. In cases where multiple candidates shared the same CRS score, the tie-breaking rule was applied, prioritizing those who submitted their Express Entry profiles earlier.
The PNP remains a key pathway for skilled workers, especially those with qualifications and work experience that align with specific provincial needs. Provinces and territories use the PNP to nominate individuals who can contribute to their local economies, and those nominated have the opportunity to apply for permanent residency.
This latest draw highlights the importance of both meeting the CRS thresholds and aligning with provincial labor market demands in Canada’s immigration system.
French Language Proficiency Draw - 19th February, 2025
On 19th February, 2025 there was a round of invitations for candidates with French language proficiency, a total of 6,500 invitations were issued. The rank required for candidates to be invited to apply was 6,500 or higher. The CRS score of the lowest-ranked candidate invited in this round was 428.
If there are multiple candidates with the same CRS score, the tie-breaking rule is applied, which uses the date and time the candidates submitted their Express Entry profiles. This round continues to highlight the importance of strong French language skills in the Express Entry system, as candidates who demonstrate proficiency in French are more likely to receive invitations for permanent residency.
The ongoing demand for bilingual candidates with French proficiency reflects Canada's commitment to supporting its French-speaking communities across the country, making this an important pathway for skilled individuals looking to immigrate to Canada.

Changes to CRS Points for IEC Work Permit Holders
Foreign nationals holding an International Experience Canada (IEC) employer-specific work permit will no longer receive Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points for arranged employment if their work permit was issued after December 18, 2024. This change, stemming from adjustments to the authority under which IEC work permits are issued, specifically affects holders of work permits under the IEC’s Young Professionals category.
Previously, candidates in this category could earn an additional 50 or 200 CRS points for a valid job offer. However, as of the new rule, work permit holders issued permits after December 18, 2024, will not be eligible for these points. Those who received their IEC work permits before this date will still be able to claim points, provided they meet the requirements for a valid job offer.
This change comes ahead of the planned removal of all bonus CRS points for valid job offers in spring 2025. The government’s decision to remove these points earlier than expected stems from concerns over potential LMIA fraud, and the update will significantly impact candidates in the Express Entry pool. Candidates who lose these points could experience a shift in their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
