New Brunswick to Open Immigration Streams with Limited Allocations

New Brunswick will soon begin opening its immigration streams after a period of adjustment due to the federal government’s reduction in the province’s immigrant nomination spaces for 2025. The province has been allocated a total of 2,750 spaces, split between the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) with 1,500 spaces and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) with 1,250 spaces.

In a recent press release, Jean-Claude D’Amours, acting Minister of Post-Secondary Education, stated that the significant reduction in allocations has forced the province to make “difficult decisions,” limiting its ability to manage economic growth. As a result, the province will prioritize sectors such as health, education, and construction for immigration, while some workers in specific sectors will be restricted.

The New Brunswick Express Entry stream will soon accept new Expressions of Interest (EOIs), with candidates in certain occupations excluded. Below are the details on the affected occupations for both the NBPNP and the Skilled Worker stream.
