Canada-US Border Port of Entry Hours Changing on January 6, 2025

Starting January 6, 2025, service hours at 35 Canada-US land border ports of entry will change. These adjustments will impact travelers crossing the border by road, narrowing the timeframes available for crossing. The changes will also affect temporary residents seeking flagpoling services—a process where immigration services are accessed by exiting and re-entering Canada within 24 hours.

The affected ports are located in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. The U.S. will align its port service hours with these changes to ensure cross-border coordination.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) states the new hours are designed to enhance security and optimize resources by deploying officers to busier locations. This will improve the efficiency of processing travelers and goods, while better managing enforcement activities.

CBSA notes these adjustments are based on operational pressures, peak travel periods, and service demands. The changes will facilitate returning inadmissible travelers and goods, addressing challenges when one side of the border is closed while the other remains open.

Detailed revised hours for each port and additional information on commercial operations can be found on the CBSA website.
